The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project “For the Better: Sustainability” (Project No: 2024-3-HU01-KA152-YOU-000267485), coordinated by Fenntartható Ifjúságért Egyesület, was successfully implemented in Budapest, Hungary, from 18 to 25 May 2025. Bringing together young participants from Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Türkiye, the project aimed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability, promote the protection of natural resources, and encourage young people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.

Throughout the project, participants had the opportunity to explore sustainability from multiple perspectives. The first day laid the foundation for a productive learning environment through orientation activities, team-building exercises, and Erasmus+ information sessions. In the following days, participants engaged in a wide range of activities focusing on natural resource conservation, conscious consumption habits, renewable energy sources, and sustainable living practices. By designing wind turbine and solar panel models, participants gained practical insight into renewable energy technologies, while workshops on sustainable fashion and responsible consumption highlighted the importance of environmentally friendly alternatives in everyday life.

As the project progressed, participants examined the relationship between food consumption and sustainability and took part in hands-on compost-making activities to learn how organic waste can be transformed into a valuable environmental resource. Through sessions on waste management and recycling, they developed a deeper understanding of how resources can be used more efficiently while minimizing environmental harm. Stakeholder visits and intercultural activities further enriched the experience, allowing participants to exchange ideas, share good practices, and collaboratively discuss solutions to common environmental challenges.

The project concluded with a city tour of Budapest, the distribution of Youthpass certificates, and a final evaluation session reflecting on the learning outcomes achieved throughout the week. Participants returned to their home countries with new knowledge, practical skills, and a stronger commitment to sustainability. By increasing environmental awareness, strengthening international cooperation, and empowering young people to take an active role in building a more sustainable future, “For the Better: Sustainability” successfully achieved its objectives and left a lasting impact on everyone involved. 🌍
