The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project “For the Better: Sustainability” (Project No: 2024-3-HU01-KA152-YOU-000267485), coordinated by Fenntartható Ifjúságért Egyesület, continued to empower young people with knowledge and practical skills related to environmental sustainability in Budapest, Hungary.

On the fourth day of the project, participants took part in the “Food Consumption and Sustainability” activity, where they explored the environmental impact of food production and consumption. Discussions focused on reducing food waste, protecting biodiversity, using water and energy resources efficiently, and promoting sustainable dietary habits. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how individual consumption choices can influence environmental sustainability and contribute to the preservation of natural resources.

In the afternoon, the learning process continued with a hands-on Compost Making workshop. Using organic waste collected throughout the project, participants were divided into six groups and guided through the process of transforming food waste into natural compost. Through this practical activity, young people learned about recycling organic materials, reducing waste, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. The workshop provided a concrete example of how everyday waste can be converted into a valuable resource for the environment.

The day concluded with the vibrant “Meeting of Cultures!” intercultural evening. Participants shared traditional dances, music, food, and beverages from their respective countries, creating an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cultural appreciation. By combining environmental education with intercultural exchange, the fourth day of the project successfully strengthened participants’ awareness of sustainability while fostering international friendship, cooperation, and respect for diversity.
